LANDISVILLE PRIMARY CENTER

LIBRARY PROGRAM INFORMATION

Dear Families:

Welcome to the library! While your child is at Landisville Primary Center, he/she will be visiting the library frequently to check out books, practice skills, do research, use the computers, read, and listen to stories.  We have four librarians working at LPC this year:  Mrs. Laura Brown, Mrs. Laura Heverlng, Mrs. Heather Lesoine, and Mrs. Cathy Koenig.  Mrs. Brown is also the librarian at East Petersburg Elementary and Mrs. Heverling is also the librarian at Rohrerstown Elementary.  Mrs. Lesoine is also the librarian at Centerville Elementary, and Mrs. Koenig is also the librarian at Farmadale Elemntary.

Students are required to bring their iPads to class each time.  iPads are used for instruction at some point during most library classes.  Please make sure that they are charged and ready for school use!

Library procedures will be changed for safety reasons this school year, and students will be instructed on how to remain safe.  Returned books will be quarantined until they are available and safe for circulation.  Please do not clean the borrowed library books that your child brought home.  This will damage the library books.  Thank you!

The library has excellent resources to support and enrich your child’s learning experiences.  Your child will participate in a welcome visit in which the library procedures are explained.  All students are expected to take care of materials, return materials on time, use good manners, and be considerate of others during each visit.

Students are encouraged to return their books each library visit.  However, they may renew the books if more time is needed to read them.  Kindergarten may check out one book at a time.  First, second, and third grade students will be allowed to check out two books at a time.  Please take time to read with your child and look at his/her library books.  Asking questions about the stories increases your child’s comprehension and learning.  Encyclopedias and other reference books are used in the library and are not allowed to be checked out.  There are no fines for overdue books, but a student may not check out any additional books until overdue materials are returned.  Students will be notified about overdue books.  Fees will be charged for lost or damaged materials.

The circulation system is managed by a computer.  Each book has a barcode on it.  Please remind your child not to damage or remove these barcodes.  If a book needs any kind of repair, please let us know.

During the year, the library will host special events including book fairs and a possible author visit. We look forward to sharing many exciting learning experiences with your child!
